Lawlor & Associates is a unique firm combining the training and expertise formerly offered by Jackson and Coker with the administrative perspective of a hospital CEO.

We have had the pleasure of seeing our company grow in a variety of ways. Not only has our total number of searches increased, but we have also expanded geographically with accounts in states as diverse as Arizona and Maine and as exotic as the island St. Croix.

For the past 14 years, we have successfully recruited Physicians and Healthcare Executives to hospitals, health systems and groups nationwide. As a company, we take responsibility and accountability for the complete process from start to finish and do not parcel off individual pieces of the search process. Plus, we provide a one year guarantee on all of our searches and do not stop working on the assignment until the client is completely satisfied.


JOHN J. LAWLOR, President

  • John J. Lawlor is President of Lawlor and Associates, Inc. specializing in Physician and Healthcare Executive Search and Healthcare consulting.
  • Lawlor and Associates, Inc. recently acquired the Physician Recruitment Division of Healthcare Resource Solutions. Their combined experience and assets in Executive HealthCare Recruiting and Physician Recruiting and Consulting will be beneficial to providing quality service to their clients.
  • Prior to founding Lawlor and Associates, Inc. in 1992, Mr. Lawlor spent three years with Jackson and Coker, the nation's largest Physician Search firm and fifth largest Executive Search firm.  While at Jackson and Coker, John was recognized for his achievement as the top producer nationally and was promoted to the Vice President of Marketing. In addition, he became a member of the President's Advisory Council. 
  • Active member of the National Association of the Physician Recruiters (NAPR), a membership organization consisting of over 400 physician recruiting firms, hospitals, medical groups, individuals, and vendor organization that oversee the standards and ethics of the physician recruitment industry.
  • Experienced in “needs analysis” and strategic grown plans, internal candidate evaluation and valuation studies regarding selling physician practices, setting up new formed departments with hospitals.

Education: He is a graduate of the University of Richmond with a B.A. degree in Political Science.  John, a native of the Philadelphia area, is involved in many community activities. He resides in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania with his wife Lori and their children, John, Jr. and Brian and Katherine.


Richard Gormley , Managing Director, Physician Search                     

  • Former Managing Director of Healthcare Resource Solutions, a Philadelphia based Health Executive and Physician Recruitment firm and a Modern Healthcare top 20 firm.
  • Former founding partner of Rogo, Inc., a national Physician Recruitment firm, and Vice President of Recruitment for Jackson & Coker, the nation’s first and largest physician recruitment firm.
  • Conducted and participated in over 500 physician searches in every medical specialty, and numerous clinical leadership positions.
  • Active member of the National Association of Physician Recruiters (NAPR), a membership organization consisting of over 400 physician recruiting firms, hospitals, medical groups, individuals, and vendor organizations that oversee the standards and ethics in the Physician Recruitment industry.
  • We have worked with numerous national healthcare systems and hospitals that include the Mayo Health System, Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia , The University of Pittsburgh Health System, Medical University of South Carolina, Trinity Hospital of Augusta, Cathedral Healthcare System and Capital Health System of New Jersey.

Education: Mr. Gormley earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management Operations from the business school at Villanova University and completed the small business ownership program from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Richard is a native of the Philadelphia area and resides in Malvern Pennsylvania with his wife Mary Jo and their four children, John, Meredith, Greta and Michael.


Margie Quinlan, Executive Profile

Ms. Quinlan is the Director of Administration and Search Operations. She has had twenty years of physician recruiting and executive healthcare consulting experience. Prior to joining Lawlor and Associates, she was involved in opening the Northeast Office of Jackson and Coker, a nationwide physician recruiting firm.

Representative Accomplishments:

  • Responsible for setting search methodology, strategy and search procedures.
  • Managed physician searches in all specialties along with senior level executive healthcare searches.
  • Twenty years of broad based healthcare consulting experience, facilitating relationships between physician group practices ; hospitals and healthcare systems.

Ms. Quinlan brings to her clients:

  • Excellent capabilities to understand the culture and organizational nuances of the clientele she serves;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels in order to build and maintain relationships in diverse complex settings;
  • Broad base of functional and operational healthcare experience, including responsibility for general operations in Healthcare Executive and Physician Recruiting search firms.
